We are building a House for Kids and a Relationship House!

We are Capuchin nuns and among forests and glens we are building a house. A house, which is way too big for the needs of a few Capuchin nuns. And it is good that it is too big as the house is not meant for us.

Our house will be a house for Kids but also a Space of Support and Family Formation – The Relationship House (we have already mentioned it, remember?) With our building, we are not only moving forward but also upward because stage four is the drywall construction in the attic. A roof is a structure consisting of wooden logs, whose aim is to carry the weight of the roof cover to the walls. Just like in a family. The burden of everyday life needs to be spread among all its members. Sometimes however, there is a leak or one of the walls is weaker and there is a need to stop and think how to fix it.

It is right there, in the attic, where we want to create the Space of Support and Family Formation. It is a place where kids from all our Houses could meet. It is here, where our independent foster children with their families will be coming. It is also there, where we are going to create a consultation center for families who will be able to redefine and sort out their emotions and relationships. It will be a house for foster and adoptive families and a place for concentration and retreat in a small group.

The attic will also be a part of the House for the Kids because the roof is also a constituent, shielding and joining the space at the same time.

Challenge!

And it is so close, because the house is ready from the outside, there are finishing works to be done. Thanks to the generosity of the Donors, we managed to complete eight stages of the collection for the Children’s Home and prepare a space where the Kids will live, play and develop.

The NINETH STAGE of finishing works is ahead of us! The time has come to equip the bathrooms in the part of the Relationship House (there are as many as 13 of them), and we still have to pay for the rest of the works related to mechanical ventilation, prepare a garbage can and a few minor finishing works. The cost of this stage is PLN 435,000.

As you remember, all the work related to the final finishing of the House and the creation of the Family Support Space – the Relationship House, is PLN 4 million, hence the great challenge ahead of us. We know that this place is not for us, but for the Kids who will live here, learn and prepare to enter adulthood. It will also be a support space for families that will become their final place of living.

That is why we dare to ask you to support the Children’s Home and the Relationship House. Not for us, but for Children, so that our home becomes a place teeming with life.
